"Appreciating the Undergrowth", photography - light and shadows

AIP1 Session 11

This session consists of photography studies for the installation in Session 10. The installation incorporated reflection, mainly through light and shadows.

The theme is "Appreciating the Undergrowth", mainly because most of these pictures are very dark, and also because a lot of the subjects are found in places where people don't normally find beauty, hence "undergrowth". The term is most commonly used in describing rainforest layers- most people only see the canopy and lone trees, and completely disregard the under layers. Some photos are taken in abandoned places, others are taken next to streets, which people ignore as they whizz by in cars. Some include home objects like dusters and bushes, others are literally undergrowth.
