DIGITAL DESIGNS - Simple Shapes

Last week, in our first Digital Designs class, we learned how to use Adobe Illustrator on iMacs. The session consisted mostly of manipulating basic shapes, how to fill them, how to control lines and line density, as well as how to manipulate lines and vectors. It was a bit confusing at first (mostly because the furthest I've ever gone with digital image manipulation is retouching photos) but we soon got the hang of it.

The homework consisted of searching for 12 musical instruments on a white background (to be used tomorrow) and creating two images using basic shapes in Adobe Illustrator.

This is my first image, conveniently converted to fit Microsoft Word-style programs. An ice cream sundae, with a cherry on top (of course!) Maybe I was hungry or something, though I don't like bananas.

The second image is a bit different... a rabid ant. Since we're limited to using ONLY BASIC SHAPES, I got around it by creating those insomniac lines out of really tiny rectangles. Also, there is no default triangle shape, but if you build a star and set it to three points you get a triangle. The mouth gap is also created with a white triangle (sorry, three-pronged star!)

Who doesn't love rabid insects?
