Final Composition - DIGITAL DESIGNS - Two Hours Ago
For the fifth and final composition, I wanted to create something that was lively and creative, but also has a lot of movement. Essentially, combining my third and fourth layouts together. But how?
I figured it would be easier to pull images from my previous layouts instead of starting everything from scratch. I did have to obtain a few additional images, like the Elvis dance pose, but I can't imagine how long it would take me to come up with a whole new set of images at that point.
TYPOGRAPHY EXPERIMENTS
One of the feedbacks I received was that my typeface didn't suit the collage, and Sir Em suggested going to fontext.com or fontsquirrel.com. I couldn't open Fontext, but Fontsquirrel had more than I could ask for. I downloaded a few new fonts like Black Casper and Boogaloo.
After experimenting with the "normal" types, I took it grunge. Everyone knows me for liking abstract and grunge art anyway.
The font here is Black Casper. I also played around with the sizes, caps and lower case letters, kernings etc. The point of grunge is not to attract attention by forcing people to look closer, anyway.
The final composition, as well as colour schemes:
I've printed all of them out, so people can choose which one they like best, but I personally love the first one (blue on yellow) and third (white, green, blue).
Overall, I think this is one of my favourite assignments so far. The brief was clear, I got to experiment with a lot of techniques, and I learned more about myself in the process. Sometimes I need to remember to just go with the flow and not spend too much time on the concepting and more time on the actual doing, so this definitely taught me that. I am looking forward to the critique session tomorrow. (Technically today, in seven hours precisely. Better catch some sleep!)
