Bottle Packaging Inspired by Arts & Crafts Movement

This will be short. Basically we had to design a packaging for either bottled water or snack packs.

The Arts & Crafts movement, similar to rococo, is dominated by organic shapes, like flowers and vines. They are a classic example of horror vacui, or the overabundance of objects in a certain space. William Morris wallpapers are a famous example of this movement.

Instead of designing a packaging with straight-up pictures of flowers and vines, I wanted to put a modern twist on it. After all, we're selling bottled water, so it has to appeal to the mainstream community---basically anyone who drinks water, which is everyone.

So I researched some Arts & Crafts patterns, and made these vector designs:

The name Vesi is Finnish for "water". It sounds refreshing, classy, and modern at the same time, so that's why I used it. This is what the packaging looks like on an actual bottle:

This was my first packaging assignment, not counting the box I made for Comping Techniques, so it was pretty interesting. Still, I like the way it turned out, except for the font, which could use a bit more exploration.

That's all for today!
